Music
There are over 100 students learning an instrument at Te Parito Kōwhai Russley School and we have 6 music teachers coming in to teach our up and coming musicians.



Instrumental lessons are available for students in Years 3-8 for most instruments, and from Year 1 for violin.
Ukulele Orchestra is for students in terms 2, 3 and 4. Rehearsals are run by Ms Sophie Lennon and will be held in small groups weekly on Thursdays. The orchestra perform at the Strum Strike Blow festival in term 3.
North West Festival Choir performs in the North West Festival in term 2. The North West Festival Choir is an auditioned choir that is conducted by Ms Sophie Lennon.
The Christchurch Schools' Festival Choir performs in the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival held in the Town Hall in term 4. Rehearsals for this choir start term 3.


Junior Choir is for students in years 3 - 4 and conducted by Ms Sophie Lennon. They meet weekly on Tuesdays and perform at school assemblies and events.
Brass Band is a small group run by Mr Bruce Muschamp. They often accompany the choir at the North West Festival and perform at school events throughout the year.
Percussion Group is an auditioned group run by our itinerant drum teacher Cat Wall, who perform at school events throughout the year.
The Russley Music Night is held once a year at the end of term 3 to celebrate all our musicians and the hard work they have put in throughout the year.
