Assessment

How is Achievement Decided?

At Te Parito Kōwhai Russley School, data is collected throughout the year on each student so that teachers can accurately assess student understanding. Learning is a personal journey, and students make progress at different rates.

It is important to note that no single source of information can accurately summarise a student's achievement or progress. To assess students, teachers bring together a range of evidence to make an overall teacher judgement. Evidence may be collected through observations, conversations, or more formalized assessments. Teachers make observations of students working to see the process they use to complete a learning task. They converse with students to find out what they know, understand, and can do. Finally, they use a range of different assessment tools, including standardised assessments.
