Our School » Sustainability
At Russley School we are aware of our role in this world to protect our environment for the future. There are several ways we are striving to achieve this within our school.
Room 9 have a garden outside their classroom. They also have a compost bin. In the staffroom they have placed a bucket that the staff put their organic waste in from their morning tea or lunch. The children collect this and place it in the compost bin near their garden. When the compost is ready, they dig it into their garden to feed it in preparation for the new planting they do in the spring.

We have no rubbish bins at our school, it is expected that all children take their uneaten lunch and wrappers home for disposal or recycling. This makes the children aware of this waste and encourages them to think of ways in which they can reduce it.
We have recycle bins for paper in each classroom and once a week they are collected and emptied into the big yellow bins that go out at the gate for kerbside collection by the council each fortnight.
