New pupils arriving at Russley will receive a warm and cheerful welcome as I did when I arrived in 2008. The students' expression of universal goodwill clearly demonstrates the values the school describes in its Charter.

I have had more than 20 years experience as a principal in a variety of schools as well as several years at the Ministry of Education managing its Literacy, Numeracy, and Assessment teams. That policy work, coupled with my practical experience, has strengthened my belief that student learning is best supported by parents and teachers working together. When we share our knowledge and expertise in a supportive way, respecting each other's role, the resulting partnership ensures greater success for all students.

It is a busy term ahead and many exciting programmes and activities are planned. I look forward to working with you.
